The anti 'classic' wardrobe - the new LBD

This year, on New Years Eve
I think I must have read 2,548,321 articles in fashion magazines telling me I have to have a LBD or little black dress to make my life complete. I love dresses. They are a wardrobe staple for me. Not one of the dresses in my current wardrobe edit is black. Or a classic 'LDB' shape. Its not me. It doesn't suit my age, my style, my occupation (I have a uniform so work clothes are of no use to me currently) and so I don't own any. If you have 1 or 20 and they work for you, I applaud you. Maybe one day I will want one. In the meantime, I will continue to twist the 'classics' to suit me. I completely believe in having basic building blocks in your wardrobe, they are just not going to be the same for everyone.

So my LBD is a little blue dress. And when I say little, I mean little. This is no Aubrey Hepburn esq. stylish knee-hitting shift dress. Oh no it is not. This is a Kim Kardashian esq. (before Kayne West made her boring), thigh grazing full-blown bandage dress. This dress is made to party. It gives me more curves then Beyonce (not really, but I can dream!) and makes my stomach flatter then Kate Moss' (again, not really, but a it sure is an improvement on the norm!)

I bought this show-stopper for my 21st Birthday celebration. For a couple of years after, I kept it in the cupboard, thinking it was too dressy to break out except for something super fancy. But this year I have let it out a few times and realised just why I bought it. It makes me feel and look (I hope!) 'banging'. So it was a no-brainer for this years New Years Eve celebrations. Paired with statement earrings, a giant ring and a beaded cuff, fuchsia peep-toes I could barely walk in and Bridget Bardot inspired hair (height and waves), I was set to party! I think I even looked better then at my 21st Birthday. Extra points for me!

  10. I don't get the LBD thing either. I think it can possibly age the wearer and plus it's boring and black? Go with colour and what suits I think!
