We Have Moved!

It's not Rocket Science (or is it?!)

So you want a new outfit. Where do you go? To your local shopping centre? That's usually my first port of call for sure. Problem is, that's where just about everyone else goes shopping too! How many times have you worn something you love only to see someone else wearing it or have a friend (or three) exclaim "I have that too"! There is another option; buy high-end designer items that no one else can afford, that will fix it! But it sure won't fix your money problems! So what's a girl to do? Enter Rocket Science.

The anti 'classic' wardrobe - the new LBD

This year, on New Years Eve

I think I must have read 2,548,321 articles in fashion magazines telling me I have to have a LBD or little black dress to make my life complete. I love dresses. They are a wardrobe staple for me. Not one of the dresses in my current wardrobe edit is black. Or a classic 'LDB' shape. Its not me. It doesn't suit my age, my style, my occupation (I have a uniform so work clothes are of no use to me currently) and so I don't own any. If you have 1 or 20 and they work for you, I applaud you. Maybe one day I will want one. In the meantime, I will continue to twist the 'classics' to suit me. I completely believe in having basic building blocks in your wardrobe, they are just not going to be the same for everyone.

Can you teach an 'old' guy new style?

I've talked before about how guys don't 'get' fashion. This is particularly true in my workplace. I work for a manufacturing company and the guys there feel the same about fashion as I do about the knowing the inner workings of a car engine; couldn't give a rats and think even less of those that do. For example, at our last Christmas party, the invite said smart casual. The executive assistant who had planned it was wearing a LBD, a sparkly pink cardigan and heels. The factory guys were wearing stained boardshorts and ripped t-shirts, and not in a 'I'm a rocker, its on purpose' way. We were lucky they had gone home to shower first (and I'm not even too sure about that!).
